Supercurricular Club for Year 12s!

St Anne’s College runs a Supercurricular club – a series of online seminars aimed at Year 12 students looking to explore their interests ahead of applying to university.

This year, St Anne’s will be running eight sessions on a range of different subjects (from pathogens to music to Japanese literature) at 4-5pm every Thursday from 16 April to 4 June 2026.

Each taster session will be one hour long and will introduce students to our researchers’ work, and what this subject area might be like to study at undergraduate level. Open to Year 12 students who would like to get a taste of their subject at this level and learn from an Oxford University academic!

A list of the session topics can be found below:

More information and recordings of last year’s sessions, including one on how to read a medieval poem (with our lovely Tutor in German Dr Anna Wilmore), can be found on the St Anne’s website here: St Anne’s Super-Curricular Club

Students can sign up to each session, using this form: St Anne’s Supercurricular Club 26 Registration

Questions can be directed to outreach@st-annes.ox.ac.uk.

FREE Christmas Lectures for Year 13s

The Langton Language Centre, based at Simon Langton Girls’ Grammar School in Canterbury, is running an exciting series of online lectures aimed at Year 13 languages students.

These are a great opportunity to get a taste of studying languages at university and see if it’s for you!

These lectures are taking place from 8th to 19th December and are completely free. All lectures will take place in the evening, either from 18:00-19:00 or 19:00-20:00.

The programme of lectures can be found here. Lectures cover varied topics, from the French Revolution to Japanese films.

Students need to sign up individually via this form with just their school name. No personal details required!

For safeguarding reasons, microphones and cameras will be muted but students and lecturers will be able to interact via the chat.

Please email David Stalley (dstalley@langton.kent.sch.uk) with any questions.

Language Miracles Workshops

St Edmund Hall is inviting A-Level state school students to a series of four interactive workshops exploring the miraculous nature of words and the people, periods and places opened up to us by the study of other languages, literature and cultures.

Open to Year 12 students at UK state schools, the workshops will allow students to develop critical reading and translation skills, introducing them to new avenues into university-style study of languages.

Benefits of participating:

  • Experience an Oxbridge tutorial
  • Learn more about the languages courses at Oxford
  • Develop skills and confidence to study languages at university
  • Meet others interested in studying languages
  • Hear from current Oxford University languages students
  • Strengthen your UCAS personal statement and interview skills

The workshops will take place in mid-July via Microsoft Teams. No language-specific knowledge is needed, and English translations will be provided.
